Muharram is the first month of lunar calendar. Significance of this month is because of its tenth day (known as Ashura) when "Imam Hossein", the third Shiite Imam and the grandson of holy prophet "Mohammad" was martyred in a heinous way (671 AC). In Shiite culture, Ashura is so important when they hold their most significant mourning ritual of the year for the sake of Imam Hossein and his 72-people army who were killed on this day and the rest of his caravan who were abducted by the ruler of the time. Muharram has been known as the manifestation of the conflict between righteousness and wickedness since decades ago. Varieties of mourning ceremonies are carried out in different cities and villages in Iran which attracts thousands of tourists to have Iran tour.
