Pottery is one of the most important and primary Iranian arts which has a long and brilliant history. The oldest pottery found in Iran dates back to 8000 B.C and due to the climate diversity in the country, it is guessed that it was Iranians who invented this art first. It is one of the arts that has preserved its technical principles during different millennia and is still in use among Iranian artists. Some of the most well-known cities of Iran in terms of having pottery workshops are listed as follows: Lalejin (Hamedan), Meybod (Yazd), Zonuz (East Azerbaijan), Kalporagan (Sistan-o Baluchestan), Siahkal (Gilan) etc. The earthenware objects created by the potters are used for both decorative applications and public usages (as containers). Persian pottery is bought by many tourists in their travel to Iran!
