Qazvin with 1278 meters height from the sea level is one of the mountainous cities of Iran which connects the northern part to the western part of the country. The city was the capital of Iran in Safavid dynasty. Qazvin is known as the calligraphy capital of Iran and has the most number of monuments in the country.

Chehel Sotoun Palace is the most famous historical site in Qazvin which is one the icons of the city. The palace which was constructed at the time of Shah Tahmasb is some decades older than the palace in Isfahan with the same name.
