Urmia

Lake Urmia

The lake is the second saltiest lake of the world and habitat of a variety of animal species. Lake Urmia is consisted of 102 islands. The amazing fact about the lake is that no one has ever drowned in it due to the density of the water!

 

    

 

 

Se Gonbad (Three Domes)

Se gonbad is one the historical sites of  Urmia, made of stones and brake, which is left from Seljuk dynasty. The building is 13 meters high and has the diameter of 5 meters.

 

 

 

 

Tamtama Cave

Tamtama cave is one of the oldest human settlements of Iran. The researches have shown that the cave was a living place 40.000 ago.

 

    

 

 

 

Jame Mosque of Urmia

Standing in the middle of the old bazaar, "Jame mosque" of Urmia is one of the most important parts of the old part of the city. Some believe that the mosque which has been constructed during Illkhanid era was built on ruins of a fire temple.
