Kashan

 

 

Kashan is one of the beautiful cities of Iran which you must visit in your Iran trip. It has a population of about 300,000. Handwoven carpets, cookies, and rosewater are the souvenirs of Kashan. Some of the historic sites of the city are:

Fin Garden

 

The garden is located in South West of Kashan. It was built in Safavid era and was an important business center during Shah Abbas era. After Afghan attacks, the garden went into decline. Karim Khan Zand built a place to reside there and reclaimed the garden. An earthquake destroyed the garden severely but it was repaired by Fath Ali Shah Qajar. Fin garden is one of the 9 persian garden registered on UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. Many tourists visit Fin garden on their Iran tour annually and enjoy their Iran trip.

 

 

 

 

Fin Bathhouse

 

In south part of the garden there are two large and small bathhouses.. The large bathhouse was built during Qajar era by Fath Ali Shah and the small one was built during Safavid era. Amir Kabir (the prime minister of Naser Al-Din Shah Qajar) was murdered at the small bathhouse in 1999.

 

 

Tabatabaei House

 

This house is in the old part of the city. It was built in 19th century by a rug merchant. The architecture and decoration of the house is adapted to the special culture and climate of the region. The house has 40 rooms, 4 courtyards, 3 windtowers and 2 qanats.

 

 

Abbasi House

 

The house was built in 19th century by a famous merchant. It had 5 coutyards that were separated after the death of the owner. Some of the characteristics  of the house are:

 

 

 

 

Introversion: The interior decoration is magnificent however, the exterior is very simple.

 

Seasonal Variation: The house has separate winter and summer parts, each used during the specific season.
