Old bazaars are another fascinating place you'll visit in your trip to Iran. The history of bazaars goes back to a few thousand years ago in Iran. Almost in all cities of Iran there's been built a permanent bazaar since early 16th century A.D. These large buildings were considered as a social-economical institution and one of the main parts of each city (along with Jame mosque of the city). Most of these bazaars had a linear shape and would start from the gate of the defensive wall around the town and stretch to the core of the city. Construction of bazaars grew in Safavid era and continued till Qajar dynasty. The path from the beginning to the end of a bazaar is called the main "Rasteh" and the stores on both sides of this path are called "Hojreh". In addition to the important role that bazaars complexes had in commerce, their role in social, religious and political events was also undeniable. Some of the most famous bazaars of the country you can visit in your journey to Persia are located in cities of Tabriz, Qazvin, Isfahan, Kerman, Yazd, Tehran etc.
