Almost all of the Iranian islands are located in south part of Iran in Persian Gulf where there are 30 islands some of which residential and some non-residential. The only Iranian island located in Caspian Sea is "Ashuradeh". Iranian islands located in Persian Gulf are all parts of three provinces of Bushehr, Khuzestan and Hormozgan. Located in southwest of "Bandar Abbas" amid the sea, there stands the most significant tourist hub in Persia Gulf. Qeshm island is the largest Island positioned in Persian Gulf, an island full of wonders and attractions. Due to the thriving market and entry of important merchandise imported from Persian Gulf countries, Qeshm is of a great importance. Also in terms of tourism, Qeshm is one of the most prominent islands of Iran. Existence of splendid natural attractons has made this island a unique place for tourists, having a trip to Iran.
Abu Musa is the southernmost island of Iran in Persian Gulf where Greater and lesser Tunb are located a bit further in north part of it. These three islands are the most strategic points of Persian Gulf as the way between Abu Musa and 2 Tunbs is the only path for oil tankers and big ships to pass the area. Abu Musa also is one of the Iranian islands active in field of oil harvesting. Iran has been governing Abu Musa since Elamite dynasty (About 4000 years ago).
