Another interesting subject to be discussed in your trip to Iran is Iran poetry. Poetry has had a significant position in life of Iranian people during the history. The first samples of poems found in Iran are the compositions Zarathustra in Gathas. However, the history of classical Persian poetry goes back to more than 1100 years ago, from 10th century to 16th century. During this period three main Persian poetry styles were introduced: 1- Iraqi (10th century) 2- Khorasani (13th century) 3- Hindi (15th century). the classical Persian poetry needs to be rhythmical and the composition of the thyme follows especial structures. Some of the most prominent Iranian poets are: Hafiz, Saadi, Ferdowsi, Mowlana, Rudaki, Nezami, Khayyam, Shahriar etc.
Khajeh Shams-ud-Din Mohammad" or Hafiz is one of the greatest Persian poets who was born in 14th century in Shiraz. In addition to his excellent poems, Hafiz was also an expert in religious science (Hafiz literally means memorizer of Qoran). His most renowned book is called "Divan-e Hafiz" can be found in most of Iranian houses. "Goethe", the great German scientist took the name of his book "West-Eastern Divan" from his book. The mausoleum of Hafiz is one of the famous sites of Shiraz which attracts many poem lovers to have a journey to Persia.
Ferdowsi was one the famous poets of 10th century AD. He was the composer of "Shahnameh", Iranians' national epic poet. He is regarded as the greatest Iranian composer. His famous book, Shahnameh has been translated into many languages of the world. Ferdowsi's tomb is located in Toos which you can visit in your Iran journey. Ordibehesh 25, is the national day of Ferdowsi.
Saadi is another great poet and writer who is from Shiraz that lived in 13th century AD. He was educated in "Nezamieh" school in Baghdad and after returning to Shiraz composed his ear-catching poems. "Boostan" and "Golestan" are the famous books of this poet. Saadi's tomb in Shiraz is one of the sites which you can visit in your Iran tour.
